Overview of Structured Cabling
Management Plan
- A project manager is assigned to your site for the duration of the project. This person handles the day-to-day implementation of the installation. An installation specialist is also assigned as second in command.
- A pre-installation meeting involves customer representatives, the head technologist at Micro Generation Technologies and your assigned project manager. Installation particulars are discussed, as well as any modifications to the site drawings and scope of work.
- Termination teams, which may or may not be comprised of the same personnel, connect all cables. The project manager assembles and terminates the main distribution frame, along with the help of an available installation specialist or technician.
- During all phases of the installation, customer representatives are requested to verify and approve of work as it progresses.
- Prior to testing and certification, a technician surveys the site to assure compliance with all applicable codes and that work has been done in a neat and professional manner.
- Cables are certified with a Class II tester, either a Wavetek, Fluke DTX, Fluke DSP4100 or Fluke DSP4300.
- Cables are labeled and identified on site drawings.
- The Customer is requested to take a final walk through and sign off on the project.
- An installation documentation package is prepared, including both printed and electronic forms of the cable tests and AutoCAD-generated site drawings, assuming an AutoCAD file has been received from customer.
